Paul is a joyful, generous, and gifted human. Our paths crossed when he enrolled at Avila University as a Kauffman Scholar. He had relocated to Kansas City from NYC after leaving Haiti in the wake of the 2009 earthquake. He learned English as a high school student, earned an associate’s degree in the health sciences, and explored voice performance in my studio. His ability to reinvent himself is rooted in passion and perseverance. I am so proud he is currently pursuing graduate work in voice and opera performance at the University of Kansas.
