Brandon Williams
Title, City
I will never forget the first time Brandon performed as a soloist with my choir—he slipped off stage right before he sang and I just prayed he was coming back! He did and he dropped the mic! What is even more amazing is that he was exploring a new genre of music and stepping far out of his comfort zone. I have watched him explore and challenge himself as he continues to grow as an artist. I love seeing him develop his voice and his music.
“Amity showed me more parts of myself that I didn’t know were available. I use the example all the time with the musical RENT, how for months she asked me to audition, not pushy, but persistent. I’m pretty sure I was expressive about how I didn’t want a major role. Finally I found the courage to do it thinking “ok, Doc will leave me alone probably.” Next week I find out I’m a lead role.
That was a major turning point for me as a musician & artist. She showed me I can do anything, never allowing my to put barriers around myself. In her own way she called forth my best. I didn’t think I was enough until Doc showed me I was. Her infectious passion and love for art is just so one of a kind. It’s fearless, careless, and strong. She gives that same energy and love to her students.”
